In 2004 for the first time we had joint winners of the Citizen of the Year award. Both Margaret Plunkett and Beverley Whitelaw were honoured for their contribution to the town’s services for young people, including the youth clubs and MAD Dancers they ran for several years.
Our Gala Queen in 2004 was: Cheryl Blyth
Our Gala Princesses were: Lesley Duncan & Hollie Gardiner
Before the advent of smartphones for the mass markets, photographs of our Gala were usually from Press or local amateur photographers.
Here we see the official photograph taken in the Town House Burgh Chambers with the first joint Citizens of the Year (Margaret Plunkett and Beverley Whitelaw) and our Gala Queen and Princesses.
