1990 was a very special year in Cowdenbeath as we celebrated our Centenary! The town had become an official Burgh on 24th November 1890 and our 100th birthday was celebrated in style with events throughout the summer.
Civic Week was the big focus, with events ranging from a swimming gala at the Leisure Centre to a Talent Show at Beath High School, with celebrity host Andy Cameron!
Kenny Aitken captured the moment as a special plaque was unveiled outside the Town House which still stands today.
Kenny also captured events at the Talent Show hosted by comedian and broadcaster, Andy Cameron. It was a fantastic night with dances, comedy, music and magic for the crowds!
Stuart Duffy also shares his copy of the Talent Show programme, signed by Andy Cameron himself, which lists all the acts and several local businesses who sponsored the events.

The 1990 Centenary Gala Parade was one to remember, with lots of smiles and fun had by young people, captured in these images by Kenny Aitken.
Several of the original tickets, posters and programmes have been saved from that event and are featured here, with thanks to Stuart Duffy for sharing his archive.
