Mrs Margaret Bricknall of Drylie Street in Cowdenbeath submitted these memories of our Gala Day, showing her sister, Rena Martin, dressing up for the Parade with her outfit made from magazine covers.

The Gala Queen in the Public Park, with the bandstand in the background, is her other sister Eliza Martin being cheered on by the crowds.

She also shared the trophies and picture of her late mother who won prizes in the Cowdenbeath Horticultural Society Show and was a very community-minded woman, joining various clubs and societies across the area.
